Sorry for not keeping up, these past few months have been pretty busy. First of all, I can't find my charger for my camera battery. So the pictures will be a little light until I can find it somewhere in my apartment. Second, my old computer's video card died. I didn't have a computer for almost two months. During that time, I went emo and extremely bored at work. Other than that, things have been pretty normal.
As of recent news, the Obama craze is still strong even here in Japan. There's a town called Obama and they use his likeness to promote their spas. In Japanese, Obama means "small beach", so this town has had many tourists visit the spas and beaches. This isn't too different than Kenya capitalizing on Obama's father's birthplace. I was reading an article where Obama fans came in a pilgrimage type fashion to see where his father was born. I'm sure there were t-shirts, pins, hats, etc available.
Other news, it actually snowed here for two days! Unfortunately it didn't stick, and it turned to freezing rain, then hail. Apparently, this island hasn't seen snow for two years. It certainly was the first time I've seen it here. On my way home from my North school, I was talking about snow with the taxi driver. They find it amazing that I come from a place where snow has to be shoveled and how nice it must be to see it all. I told them what I always tell people who've never experienced a snowy winter, "It's only fun until you have to shovel it."
That's all for now, updating in between classes can be a pain, especially when I don't have the pictures to remember events by.
