4 more days

Four more days until the trip and all is going well. I'm pretty sure I remembered to pack everything. I intend to bring 2 checked luggages, a carry on backpack and my laptop bag.

This entry I'll talk about my apartment and schools. My apartment is a two story building with 3 rooms, kitchen, living room and bathroom. Victoria really saved me the trouble by leaving plenty of things for me to use.

This is a shot from the entrance. As you can see the elevated part where outdoor shoes are prohibited.

Here's a shot of the kitchen. I hope keep most of those utensils, and that rice cooker!

This is my living room. Victoria is leaving all of that (minus the laptop and dvd player) for me to use. She told me those books are from all the previous JETs on the island. I lucked out with having a treasure chest of knowledge at my disposal.

A shot from the living room into the kitchen.

I haven't received any pictures of the upstairs area, but I'm thankful for what I have when I get there. The apartment is part of a complex mostly occupied by teachers. Hopefully, I'll get to meet some teachers from my schools.

According to the welcome letter, I'm assigned two junior high schools and three elementary schools. My week goes something like this:

Monday & Thursday at Kita-Uonome Jr High. This school has about 80 students broken up into three grades. I will be teaching three classes a day. They also have a boys' table tennis club here, so I hope to get involved in that.

Tuesday & Friday at Uonome Jr. High. This school is considered my "base school", so the people I report to all work here or at the Board of Education. 75 students attend Uonome Jr. High. Again, three classes to teach per day. I've been told I'll have an opportunity to be more involved with student activities.

Wednesday: I attend one of three elementary schools per Wednesday. One of the schools only have 10 students, so I'm curious how that will turn out.

I think that's all for now.
